Parties, Awards and other stuff

First of all a BIG congrats to Bradley for receiving another Pupil of the week award. This time for learning his 200 high frequency words. Way to go little man!!

The preps sang at the assembly on Friday (How much is that doggy in the window) they did a fantastic job. It was really cute to see them, at the same time a little scarey to see how far they have all come since the start of the year and that there is less than 2 months left until they are no longer preppies.





I am finding I am really going to have to watch Brad as he has the tendancies to be a little bully if things upset him or when he is tired.. or both. Gareth and I were so disappointed in him the other day when he said something quite nasty to his best mate. We found out in the end that it was because his mate didn't want to do what he wanted to do. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation, please share. The way we handled it was by sending him to his room and making him think about it, he is also grounded for a week. He did write a letter to say sorry. But I am still a little shocked that he did it.
Sian on the other hand has developed a real attitude and trying to exert her independance. Her words to me last night when I told her it was time to leave the party were "How many times do I need to tell you I don't want to go yet Mummy!" My jaw dropped momentarily before I replied with Excuse me... we are going NOW! cheekt little boop!

I took Sian and her best friend to a fete day to celebrate Children's week on Mondy and they both had a ball having their faces painted, playing with the animals and the play dough. There was also this fantastic machine that made apples into spirals... I have decided I want one... it was so cool!







Happy Birthday to my brother Troy for yesterday! I hear he was enjoying having a drink or 2 yesterday. I will be watching the post for the one he promised me! (not that I like bourbon really)

A big happy birthday to Miss Bec who turned 4 on Thursday last week. She had a party at Planet Play today and all the kids had a ball. It's hard to believe the little ones are 4 already! They look so grown up too, not babies anymore.

And a Happy Birthday to Ally as well who turns 5 on Tuesday, she had her birthday yesterday and it was a great day as well. There was a band called the Pacific Rhythms who are a Cook Island band and Hula dancers. They were fantastic.... there was this gorgeous little girl who was part of the dance crew and I am not sure if she was even 2 years old. She did so well. It was great to see. I said that if I uploaded the photos that I would put a link to there site as well. So true to my word. Go and check them out HERE. They are alot of fun and truly lovely people as well.

















This afternoon we are off to a picnic at a local lake with some other friends. It has been a very busy weekend and I think I am looking forward to Monday when I can have a quiet day!

Oh Brad's new tooth has started coming through as well as the one next to it. That one is growing behind the other one though. Apparently thats pretty normal and he just needs to encourage the other one to come out by wriggling it lots. Sian had a small filling in the chair last week as well and she was so brave, it was fantastic.

Happy Birthday to my Darling Hubby

My gorgeous hubby Gareth turned 40 on Thursday and the celebrations have been going on since then pretty much! Back in June this year he received his main present... that being a 46" LCD television for the back room. But on Thursday we gave him the new Terry Pratchett book and a beer glass/stein with 40th on it.

Thanks to our friend Kerryn for watching Sian for us so that we could go and have some time together, we went for breakfast and then did some shopping before, collecting Sian and coming home for a chill out and then a curry for dinner.
On Friday night we went to another friend's house for a yuummy roast dinner and more celebrations.

Today was the real party day though and we had friends over for a BBQ dinner.... A really great day was had by all.



The cake was a delicious Cappacino Mud Cake ... it was funny ... when I ordered it I asked for no flower, but chocolate curls instead ... well when it arrived there was a flower on it, but there was also a box the same size as the cake box full of chocolate curls!! The funny thing is that the chocolate curls only cost $3.40 and there would easily be a couple family sized blocks there I think.

Excitement!

Brad lost his first tooth on Friday and there was so much excitement! Most of his mates have lost teeth already, so this was a big thing for him. The tooth fairy visited and left him a shiny $2 coin in place of his tooth. No photos yet .. slack aren't I!

On Saturday we went to the traffic school with Sian's kinder as a bit of a fundraiser. The kids all had a fantastic time. It's basically a tiny town with stop lights, pedestrian crossings, give way and stop signs. I think it's a great way to educate them as well.










Sunday this weekend was a quiet sort of day, l got lots of washing done as the weather was perfect for it. Gareth did the lawns and they look loads better! Other than that there was alot of lazing around being done.

I have decided that I would like to try and grow some veggies this year. Brad bought Gareth a tomato plant for father's day so we have that growing along with the cucumber plants that Dad gave us on our last visit. I am thinking I might look into another tomato plant too perhaps.

Thats about all I have to share for now... although there is a special birthday coming up for Gareth later this week, so I will have to share some photos then too :)

School Holidays came and went..... we spent the second week with my family in South Aus and had a great time... apart from my little angels being monsters for some of the week (usually evenings and probably due to lack of sleep!) The picture that Brad drew on the wall in the spare room (about a 2' one at that) in permanent marker probably topped it off... got him grounded for a week too!!

But despite that they had a ball with their cousins and Uncles and Aunts on the motorbike and on the skateboard. It was really cool to see everyone having fun :0) Brad and Aaron butted heads a few times, but they were best of mates most of the time and they have alot of common interests. Ben 10 being probably the main one.

















On Thursday we took the kids to the Warrawong Sanctuary in the Adelaide Hills and it turned out to be a great day.







I held the lizards and got up the courage to hold the snake... this was a big thing for me, I have never even had the courage to touch one other times that Gareth has held them at wildlife places.







This little bandicoot came right up next to my chair to have a snack ... he was a real little cutie.



The kids were a little scared of the emu, but enjoyed watching him have a drink.



I saw this gorgeous purple flower and had to try a close up of it. Ha Ha!



We took Mum and Dad out for dinner on Thursday night as a thank you and a Happy Birthday to them both. (Mum on the 19th and Dad on the 1st) They then took the kids home and put them to bed for us so we could see a movie. We saw the Mummy 3 and I must say that I enjoyed it as much as the other two.





Friday was a day spent trying to relax and pack the car ready for the trip home on Saturday. I went to visit my cousin Cass and her 2 boys with her mum Meredith (Hi Dithy! :0) It was a great couple hours and the kids got along really well with Seth and were telling me they missed him not long after we left.

The trip home on Saturday was actually quite a good one... stopping in Tintinara for some brekkie and then onto Kaniva for a loo break and I got these photos of the big windmill in the main street.







We were home about 430 and that was half an hour earlier than expected thanks to the Eastlink!

We are back to school and kinder this week and I must say even though it was a great school holidays I am glad to have some quiet during the day. ;0)
